Latest Powerball Jackpot Run Delivers Millions to New York
New York Powerball ticket sales generated more than $43 million in aid to education, $7.5 million for retailers
New Yorkers win more than $21 million in total prizes
Even though Wednesday’s $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot was won in Illinois, ticket sales leading up to the drawing generated more than $50.5 million combined for New York’s public schools and Lottery retailers. The winning numbers for the August 12 draw were 04, 26, 66, 67,69 and Powerball 09.
In addition, two $1 million prize-winning tickets were sold in New York during the run, including one in June and one in August.
The Powerball jackpot began rolling on May 2, resulting in 44 drawings until this week’s win. Since then, New York State’s Powerball ticket sales totaled $125.7 million. All of New York’s profits from the sales are constitutionally dedicated to New York’s K-12 public schools, totaling $43.9 million. Lottery retailers earned $7.5 million in commissions on ticket sales.
“Even when the jackpot-winning ticket is sold outside of New York, our state’s public schools and local businesses come out on top,” said Gaming Commission Chair Brian O’Dwyer. “This exciting Powerball run generated more than $43 million to support New York’s public schools and provided over $7.5 million in vital commissions to our hard-working lottery retailers. Combined with the millions of dollars won by New York players, this jackpot run has delivered a tremendous benefit to the state.”
In the drawings between May 2 and August 12, New York players won a total of $21,834,826 in prizes. This includes 76 players who won prizes of $50,000 or more:

- 8/8/2026 - Two Way Supermarket, Brooklyn
- 6/1/2026 - Naz Cards & Gifts, Inc., Staten Island
- 1 Double Play® second-prize winner of $500,000
- 2 Power Play® third-prize winners of $200,000 each
- 5 Power Play® third-prize winners of $150,000 each
- 9 Power Play® third-prize winners of $100,000 each
- 52 third-prize winners of $50,000 each
- 5 Double Play® third-prize winners of $50,000 each
